It’s a sad day on Nowhere Farm. We said goodbye to our big blue dream.
Minnie Pearl has crossed over to the other side.
I think we are in shock.
The conflicting emotions overflow.
From day one, it felt like (Karin’s words) her spirit was too big for her body. Her body struggled at times to contain her, to keep up. And if I may be so bold, Karin was nothing less than heroic in her ongoing efforts to do the necessary research and legwork to ensure that Minnie had great quality of life and the best possible care.
We had a full life together, and we have no doubt Minnie knew she was deeply loved. She loved her pack, seemed to love waking up on the farm, loved getting everyone outside, loved her walks with Porter, loved to grab the moment in front of her and give it a good shake.
She was an important teacher for us. All our dogs have been in different ways. She mattered. I’m sure we’ll write more about it in the coming days, but right now, we just wanted to let our friends know, and wanted to remember and celebrate this special dog. Our sincere gratitude to all those who helped us care for her over the years.
We are getting ready to head out on the road and play some music. How is that going to work? We don’t know exactly how it works, but somehow it always does. Music helps. We wrote the music with no fear of breaking our hearts, our hearts already broken.
Rest in peace Minnie, and go find your sister Willa.
Release.
Good Dog.
