Leave the dishes in the sink, don't overthink it
Close up the broken hearted piano
Join me on the porch if you can swing it
Let's dream an ocean in Ohio
You've been working so hard I can feel it
The clean and honest sweat upon your skin
I want to see the rosy light on your face
Is this evening free or did it cost us everything?
It's our favorite time of light
Just before the day kisses the night
You see the redwing blackbirds fly
The sun’s a big ol' lazy eye
And when the day is bending low
And rolling fields begin to glow
Feels like we traveled all this way
Just so I could hear you say
It's our favorite
Our favorite time of light
Hello,
Yes, we have been working hard, but we arrived home last week to beautiful summer weather on the farm, an evening bathed in light. And is it just me, or is there already the occasional hint of fall in the air?
We wanted to take a little time to bring you up to date on what's happening. All the news that's fit to sing…
We are happy to announce our Nowhere Else fall songwriting workshop, the weekend of September 27-30! Come join us on the farm for a deep dive into this beautiful mystery called songwriting. We'll share some of the most important and useful things we've learned in the last 30 years. You'll be invited to offer your songs, and we'll do some collaborating as well. Please help us spread the word to those you know who may be interested. Email us: overtherhineofficial@gmail.com for more info.
We have been leading songwriting workshops for the past 15 years in Santa Fe as part of the Glen Workshop, sponsored by Image journal. This was our final year of teaching at the Glen, and we were so honored when Image announced they were establishing an Over the Rhine songwriting scholarship: each year moving forward, a songwriter will receive a "full ride" in our name to attend the Glen in Santa Fe and study the craft of songwriting. (This was our group of songwriters in Santa Fe this year - always surprising and inspiring to gather and learn from each other and watch new songs arrive.) Our ongoing dream is to establish and host annual workshops at Nowhere Else.
The workshop experience is all about taking a few steps forward in your songwriting life, regardless of whether you are just starting out, or have been writing and recording for years. We've been told the workshop is helpful to writers of any persuasion, not just songwriters. (If you don't consider yourself a songwriter, but love music and records, hopefully this workshop will deepen your ability to listen. We need good listeners too. And you might be surprised.) Can you believe 2019 finds us celebrating 30 years of writing, recording and taking our songs out on the road? Come lift a glass with us, and let's keep going. We've got songs from our latest album, Love & Revelation, as well as plenty of older favorites and a few stories to share. Join us, and we'll share a summer evening overflowing with song.

Thanks so much for sharing the long road with us. In these uncertain times, we've never been more grateful for music, and for the gift all of you have bestowed on us by giving the songs a good life. As Karin still says, without you, we'd be homeless.
To be continued...
Love & Revelation,
Linford and Karin
