October 5th, 2023. Happy 27th anniversary to us. Today finds us abroad in the beautiful Mourne region of Northern Ireland, immersed in the green, lush, dewy world. A gentle rain falls beneath a thick duvet of low, soft clouds.
We are on a pilgrimage. (Aren’t we all, from the moment of our birth?) It’s a tremendous gift, a challenge, a call to growth and forgiveness and surrender and healing and joy and resilience — it’s always all of the above — to share the long road with people you love.
Today finds us making music together, a form of love making, one that rhymes, something melodic, a little ecosystem of harmony that we work to protect, enjoy and grow.
Today finds us playing with ideas of community building, ideas we have been playing with for years, even when we never acknowledged or even consciously knew we were playing with those ideas. I suppose we knew we were building a “following” for our music, but we soon enough learned that we were connecting people in ways that far exceeded us or our music.
Today finds us lifting a celebratory glass to the good stuff that has come before, the good stuff right in front of us, and the good stuff yet to come.
Our story and our music continues to unfurl.
Linford (with Karin close by, who couldn’t resist the urge to read one particular paragraph of this aloud in a Monty Python accent, laughing until tears came to our collective eyes)
