Karin, Linford, and Jake played a thirty-minute set opening for Ani Difranco at the Auditorium Theater, a nice, Taft-like space in Rochester NY. Karin had a jaded diva thing going ("you've maybe never heard of us... that's not our fault"), which seemed to be well-received, for the most part, by the audience. The only rough and restless spot seemed to come when Karin was introducing Trouble, talking about the attractiveness of stubble on a man. The person on my left muttered, "she's totally missing her audience, here." Typical Ani D worshipers: lots of couples, very, very few boys. Point taken. I enjoyed Trouble, anyway, and everyone around me seemed to be back on track with Born. Two girls in the row just ahead were happily swaying to I'm On a Roll, despite not seeming to know the song. By Sometimes and Orphan Girl, Karin's voice was in top form. It had been something like three years since the last time I saw OtR perform live. From what I heard at this show, I have REALLY been missing out. I guess I'll have to try make more nine-hour drives. wink.gif

Good show. Good show.
