i posted a video of "hurt" from nashville on youtube not long ago,
i asked karin prior to posting it since it was "unreleased," she was ok
with it.
mickey's birthday celebration was great. when i ordered the cake (@ karin's request), about 30 minutes after i placed the order i got a call back and it was the baker saying, "i'm sorry...but, not going to put that on a cake!" after several pretty hilarious texts and calls back and forth between karin and myself, followed by phone calls to the baker, the compromise was reached that they would write "happy 50th birthday mickey...that's not funny!" and give me a frosting tube (or as linford called it, "a frosting sharpie") to "complete" the birthday message, which greer did perfectly. i thought mickey was going to pee his pants when he saw it. hilarious. after the show, i commented to mickey..."so, you are finally having to eat your own words."
a great show and a fun night. and the cake was great!
as it looks right now (from talking to mickey this past w/e) taft will be his final show.
when brad jones introduced him to K&L during the sessions for TTC, he was content doing studio work and teaching and really hadn't intended on being a "touring" musician again. but, he and K&L enjoyed working together so much on TTC that he agreed to go out with them "for a while"...that was 3 years ago. he and molly have a wonderful young son, grafton and it sounds like the extended time on the road is taking him away from his home and family more than he wants to be gone at this point in his life.
and yes, he is an excellent drummer and addition to the band, and even
a better man. and yes, he will be missed.
