LINEUP: Karin, Linford
REVIEW BY: Kylie Wilkerson
Friday began with rain. Then thunderstorms. And then *tornadic weather* in the Indianapolis area. I thought fo sho it would be cancelled, but alas, it wasn't. :) My bro and I arrived at the bar not knowing that *two* bands were taking the stage before our beloved band. Oh, and this was my brother's first show...i asked him to go, and then he bought tix and such as a late birthday present. Anyhoo, there were quite a crowd when we got there. So we got some drinks, and went upstairs to grab a seat and get something to eat. (that rhymed) The first 'band' wasn't who we thought it was. Still not sure who they were. It was a male/female duo. Guitars and a banjo. Mmm, mmm, mmm. So when they finished another band took the stage. 'Ashworth'...they were supposed to be acoustic with an edge...but we didn't hear any edge. Very radio-ish. So we killed some time playing pinball and eating cheese fries. During their last song we went downstairs to get a place on the floor. (I seriously need to get some height b/c tall people like to stand in front of me at EVERY SHOW!) Anyhoo(!) Karin and Linford started setting up and all. Do you want to know what they were wearing? Ok. Linford had on jeans and a shirt that sorta looked a bit like tapestry. (that makes me want to listen to carol king) Karin had on black pants, some silky tank top and a little sweater thingy on. Altho...they did have a wardrobe change in the middle. :) Linford (i passed him during one of my many potty breaks) changed shirts mid-set, and karin stripped the sweater thingy as well. Where was I? Oh yeah...so I'll get to the setlist w/ commentary. I wrote everything down, but then ended up grabbing Linny's set list. You know how L always sits to the left of K at the piano? Well...not this time. He only did that for like 2 songs. He stood to the rite of her playing a freakin acoustic the whole freakin time. (!) ... CAST ME AWAY - (always great) BOTHERED(I'm really starting to get obessesed with this one) THE SEAHORSE *cover* SUMMERTIME - (Doc Watson?)- Neato skippies. Never heard it before. GREEN CLOUDED SWALLOWTAIL - Karin mentioned that it was a metaphor. Isn't it about Linford's mom or something? Oh...and hold on to your underwear...Linford sang with Karin! Such a cool thing I *almost* peed my pants. I mean I thought I was at Dairy Queen. ***3, 2, 1...*** WHO WILL GUARD THE DOOR? - Yes, folks it's finished. And it is ALL-TOGETHER-LOVELY. I turned to my bro and explained to him how landmark this performance was. !!! Oh it's so good !!! ETCETERA WHATEVER *cover* FEVER- always good to hear Karin sing this. MY LOVE IS A FEVER - different version. It was really fast and with an acoustic. Pretty neat. **New song** WHAT SHE'D LIKE TO DO - That's what Linford's setlist says anyway. They forgot to say the name. Nazis. Karin did say that it's a song about abuse. It was good...I really really liked it. It's a slower song. Goooood. THE WORLD CAN WAIT - Potty break. I could here it in the restroom tho. :) Ohio FAIRPOINT DIARY - Omigah. "The prop" is what they called it. :) The little tiny piano. It was sooo freakin cute. Linford played acoustic thru this, and then at the end Karin played the prop. It was humorous. Such an interesting addition to this new setlist. I couldn't get over how cute it was. ORPHAN GIRL - I love this song so much. I can play parts of it on my guitar now. :) LUCY - WHO THE HECK IS SHE?! :)I love this song so. ENCORE POUGHKEEPSIE - b/c a girl requested it. I met this girl after the show...in the rest room. I had to give her some tp. I'm sure K and L would love to know that she was singing it while doing the number one except she DIDN'T KNOW THE WORDS! I was dyin. How are you gonna request a song and not even know all the words? C'mon. She was nice tho. :) JUNE - different version. It really didn't even sound like the same song. But it was good. ALL I NEED IS EVERYTHING - of course. :) Linford sang with K again. :) ... My memory just called and reminded me about the banter inbetween... Uhh, they attended their first 'council meeting'...something about their GRAPE ARBOR. It was quite humourous. Karin spoke of a dream about a black tornado, then heard the song on the radio, and then on their way they saw lots o' black clouds. (yeah those would be the tornados that were in Indianapolis just a few hours before) They got 'the prop' at a garage sale. Karin had something for dinner that made her throat 'froggy'. She's funny. :) Um...I can't remember anything else. After the show...I had to go to the restroom. (i think i need bladder enlargement surgery) While in there K and L came out to talk with peeps. My bro was sitting on a stool by the door looking like the bouncer. (the poughkeepsie girl actually thought he worked there) Ran into Linford as he was walking out the door...spoke with him for a few, and then he was bombarded by peeps wanting his herbie hancock. All of which had to use my pen. Also...I love that K and L remember my name. :) After that we left. Got home at 2 a.m. and had to be up at 5 a.m. to go to work. :)
