Wow, wow, and wow. With a side of wow. Two amazing hours of Over the Rhine. There were close to 100 people in line about 40 minutes before the doors even opened. The 350-person capacity Soiled Dove was sold out, and the band really seemed to feed off the crowd. This was my first time seeing them with the full band - and they didn't disappoint! Here's the setlist (from my notes). We also got one off the stage, which I'll post shortly.
I Don't Wanna Waste Your Time
Fever
I Want You to be My Love (Linford mentioned that Karin wrote this simple
song. Karin said that it's one of the most requested songs. Hee. Mickey
said he hated it when they fought tongue.gif )
On a Roll (New Zealand Story)
Let's Spend the Day in Bed
Nothing is Innocent (White House story)
Trumpet Child
Drunkard's Prayer (by request, this one wasn't on the setlist.)
Who'm I Kiddin' but Me (the drums on this one - wow!)
And Can it Be
We're Gonna Pull Through (mentioned Snow Angels in wide release this
winter)
Goodbye Charles
Suitcase
Ohio
BPD
Orphan Girl
Encore #1
Hush Now
If a Song Could be President (they mentioned that the song hopefully
was bipartisan! The crowd loved this one.)
Don't Wait for Tom (best use of a cookie sheet in a song - ever!)
Encore #2
Latter Days
It was an amazing 2 hour set. The Soiled Dove is a great venue (if a
bit pricey), and the crowd was really into the show. Griffin House also
did a really great job. As did OTR's new guitar tech! The band hadn't been
to Denver since 2001, and they apologized for that. A crowd member said
not to let it happen again. Hee. A great time. I REALLY hope they come
back this winter!
