Literally...on stage! It was an unusual set up - they had a raised stage set up on side of the main stage, with the black curtain half closed...the audience was ushered up all the way past the seats and up steps onto the main stage itself, where it was standing room only. It was cozy up there, and made for an intimate concert, but it was still...odd.
Graham House opened, and he did a great set! (We liked it enough we picked up one of his CDs.) He did a terrific job with Johnny Cash's "Fulsom Prison Blues".
Over The Rhine was in top form as always. They were happy to be back in Ohio and one show away to a week break at home. There apologized for being a little slap happy, but it made for a really fun show. Micky outdid himself with his solo during "Who'm I Kidding But Me", not just playing but singing! It was nice to see his wife Molly singing back up again (though I have to admit I missed the violin...after seeing Paul from the Cincinnati Orchestra play along the last 3 times I've seen them at home, and Fats at Moonlight Gardens and the Dame...well, it was odd not having a violin up there).
I didn't get any shots of the band (the lighting was too odd...my little camera just isn't designed to handle that kind of lighting challenge), but I have some shots of the crowd (which will hopefully give you a better idea of the stage set up) and the set list.

All in all, another wonderful show that was well worth the travel time
from Cincy! We'll see y'all at Canal Street next month, then Chicago and
Kent Stage (we've set aside November as "follow OTR around month"), and
of course the Taft on my birthday!
