We headed back up Twin Cities way Saturday morning for home and the Saturday night show at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis, very near the West Bank campus of the U of M. As we got closer to home, the temperature slowly crept downwards and we saw occassional remnants along the roadside of the snow from the previous night. The drive back up was so beautiful, not full color yet, but lots of reds, oranges, yellows, and golds mixed amongst the green. Linford and Karin both told me later they really enjoyed the drive. After a brief rest, we headed to Minneapolis to stand in the lineup in 35 degree temps, and a few flakes of snow coming down. It was also Zombie Pub Crawl night on Cedar Avenue and the streets were loaded with zombies of all kinds
walking up and down the street. It was street theater for sure. The one thing I love about OtR shows is the pre-show lineups. We all share our love for the band, and it is so interesting to hear what songs they love, or where they have heard them before, or how meaningful OtR's music is to them and how its has inspired them. In front of us were 2 couples from Otter Tail, about 3-4 hours north of the Twin Cities, and we enjoyed talking to them. One was a writer, who had been inspired by Linfords writings. Behind us was a zombie, with brain matter on his head, fresh from surgery. It turns out it was Erik- Ticket to the Show here on the Orchard. He sure had changed a lot from when I saw him last. Behind them were a female couple Elizabeth and Barb, whom we had met the last time OtR was here. And there was a work buddy of mine, Andy and a Pattypal friend of Keiths, Carley, who were both at their first OtR show. And we met another couple who drove all the way from Aberdeen, South Dakota for this show. Long time followers, first time for them too. I knew they would all be amazed by the live show. And they were. Carley said it was one of the most amazing shows she had ever seen.

Vienna Teng put on another nice opening set, and you could tell by both nights she was well liked by the number of people buying her cd's after her set.
I think this show was one the better ones of OtR I have seen. The Cedar was packed like I had never seen. Erik sat down in front of the keyboards in his zombie outfit, we sat in the center. The set list was almost the same as the previous night, adding Suitcase in place of Anything at All. Karin was having a field day making zombie comments to Erik that had us all laughing. Amused by the zombie stuff going on, Linford made him stand up and face the crowd after the first song. The highlight for me was Drunkards Prayer, at the end where its just Karin singing 'you're my water, you're my wine...' and there wasn't another sound in the whole place. Absolutely beautiful. And also Angel Band dedicated to Kenny and his dad. Very emotional.

After the main set the band came out for the encore, but no Karin. As they started Hush Now Karin finally emerged with some black makeup around her eyes and very zombie like, and proceeded to ask Erik to join her on stage for an impromtu zombie dance to the beginnings of Hush Now. A great moment.

A great night. Thanks for making the rounds up this way Karin and Linford. 2 nights of much needed OtR medicine, to sooth the soul. One man down, and you did good. And Linford made some really cool setlists these nights.
