The setlist follows the semi-coherent stuff:

...as was the case the last time I went to see Over the Rhine at Kent Stage, I had fish for supper, but this time I opted for broiling, thinking that frying fish may be hazardous to one's health...that last show at Kent Stage happened to be the first time that I saw drummer Mickey Gill play with OTR, and I had the pleasure of chatting with him at another show a few days later...some time ago, I'd heard he was parting ways with OTR before long, so I was pleased when I ran into him in the lobby and was able to shake his hand and wish him the best - I'll miss him in OTR...also ran into bivester, who was running merch for K&L...there sure are some fiercely loyal Mary Gauthier fans out there...at Bill's suggestion, I introduced myself to soundman Colm O'Reilly, whose tenure with cowboy Junkies ended about the same time I was getting llamanized...we reminisced a bit about a few mutual acquaintances...opener Lucy Wainwright Roche is the product of two musical lineages, and linked to a third if you count marital as well as blood links...all told, I've seen a dozen members of this "clan" perform (for those keeping track that's five Roches, three Wainwrights, a brace of McGarrigles and two Lankens)...I think that's the first time I ever used the word brace in that context; maybe I don't read enough, but it seems the only time I've encountered it is in reference to hunting ("he came back with a brace of quails" (or hares, or whatever)) and I was mildly surprised to learn that it meant merely a pair; personally, I think hunters came up with the term to make their spoils sound more impressive when they spend all day tramping in the woods and only end up with a measly two undersized birds...once again, I enjoyed Kenny Hutson's versatility, as he added just the right touch on slide (e.g. Who'm I Kiddin'), mandolin (All I Ever Get For Christmas is Blue), etc. etc....nice to see Linford play bass while Karin was at the keyboard...North Pole Man was great with acoustic guitar and bass, plus dobro and a single tom for percussion, but the "train" debut of this song, with Karin howling back and forth with Jeff Bird's harmonica, will always be special...loved Mickey's subdued drumming on Etcetera Whatever...once again, I enjoyed the "unplugged" version of All I Need Is Everything...

Love seeing OTR in Kent - allows me to remember my first show @ Brady's. My highlights were:

Here It Is. It truly is a top 10 for me!
Drunkards Prayer might have been one of the best I've heard.
Who Am I Kiddin - very funky, cool, new arrangement.

Lucy is fun - loved her last May in Austin too!

Had to get back to Pittsburgh after the show - but so excited for Cincy! The universe just seems right after hearing them play...
