Last night, feeling spontaneous after all the tents finally came down, we sat with our neighbors (Alex and Tara and Beckett) for a few hours around an outdoor fire under the moon rise and lifted glasses to Nowhere Else Festival number six. We are still very much basking in the afterglow. These gatherings just keep getting better every year.

Although Karin and I thrill to provide the place and curate the artists who offer their work, this is all so much bigger than just two songwriters.

During the festival, after a lovely Friday evening picnic and concert, we had several significant rain events over the weekend (and beyond).

We’ve always wondered what would happen if we got deluged. Now we know. The big performance tent stayed dry. The barn stayed dry and cozy. The music played on.
But it was absolutely incredible to see our festival team rally together to rework the parking plan, and eventually get everyone safely off-site. Straw bales appeared, and we saw family and lifelong friends pitching in to beef up our entrances and exits. All went remarkably well. So many smiling faces as people pulled safely away. (A local farmer pitched in and pulled out two large camping trailers with his tractor Monday morning.)

We were reminded that art seldom makes its way into the world without the efforts of a community. We still love to buy into the myth of the individual genius, but in reality, art truly does take a village.

In that spirit, we’d also like to thank all the artists who came in from far and wide to offer their life’s work. And I must say, during Willy Tea Taylor’s interview in the loft, we have never heard so much laughter in the barn.

We appreciate the support of all of you who bought tickets. And of course, thanks as always to the dozens of amazing volunteers who pitch in — far too many to name.

We do want to acknowledge by name once again some of the good (and amazing) people who contributed so much to our extended musical family reunion.

The deserving folks listed below worked so hard to help make such a great gathering possible in 2022. Some of these are seasoned professionals from the corporate world and have verbalized that they have never had the privilege of working with such an incredible team. We are humbled and heartened by all their generosity and all their hard work. Most of the team leaders volunteer and donate many hours of their time each year to this labor of love.

If you were able to attend, and any of these individuals named below made your weekend especially enjoyable in some particular way, please feel free to add a note in the comments. We are so grateful.

Until we meet again,
Linford and Karin
